Visit to the doctor

Assalamualaikum lovelies,

Well tonight I'm going to write about doctors. Ececehh macam bagus plak rasanya ayat tuh. Hahah.. Re-write.. Okay, tonight I'm going to talk about our visits to the clinic. Actually earlier today, hubby and I brought Raisha to Dr Altaf's Clinic in TTDI. Raisha has been having diarrhea for almost 5 days, and we're getting worried now. At first it was okay-okay, but when she woke up in the middle of the night just to poop (all sweating and meneran.. risau babe), that got me thinking that it's not ok. We gave her probiotics for the tummy (about two days), but it seems like it didn't help that much. Well, looking at the frequency of the diarrhea (around 4-5 times a day), I want fast results! So we brought her to the best!

Dr Altaf is definitely my first choice when it comes to pediatrician. He is very good with babies and kids. I was recommended to him by my sister in law, Kak Intan whom a true loyal believer of him. Lisa, 10 and Zara, 6 has been going to Dr Altaf since they were babies. Okay, back to Dr Altaf. He's soft spoken, he explains everything (if you're like me.. yes, I want to know EVERYTHING about my baby! hahahah) and most importantly, he listens! There was this one time when I was a little bit concern with Raisha being a little "fragile" for her age. Dr Altaf immediately examined her joints and muscles. And he said that there's nothing to worry about, cause Raisha is a little chubby, so it might take a while for her mucles to get strong and "fit". (Hahaha boleh macam tue..?) He added if by 1 year she is still "fragile", then I should consult with him again.

And for our visit today, he mentioned that it's normal for babies to have diarrhea, especially when they started eating solids and also biting. Babies at her age love to bite anything and everything that they can grab. So all the germs/bacteria might go into the tummy and cause the diarrhea. Usually, diarrhea lasts about 2-3 days. And for Raisha's case, it has come to his apprehension since it's a prolong diarrhea. He prescribed probiotics, and some smecta sachets. And we were also given a container, he wants us to give stool sample, so that we'll be sure what actually cause it. It could be viral or bacteria infection. Well I hope that everything is going to be fine by tomorrow. Alhamdulillah, Raisha is still active and drinks a lot (so Insyaallah, no dehydration issue). Having said that, she is pooping while I'm writing this, so here comes my worry again. (Poor my baby...sob sob)

Well lovelies, I highly recommend Dr Altaf as your baby's pediatrician if you want someone who is very experienced and intuitive. Well, of course he's the type that follow SOPs, like other doctors too. But I would with his experience and his care for babies, I really can trust his instincts.

Bedtime routine

Yes, she sleeps early tonight, wohoooo! We're home at 10:30 pm tonight, and lights off around 11:00 pm. And lepas golek-golek atas katil, and of course, bf.. She finally surrenders at 11:30 pm. It took about 30 minutes to get her to sleep, eventhough she had a good 3 hours nap (afternoon and evening) earlier. This is a big achievement for Raisha and mommy..Yeayyyyyy! Well, Raisha nie nie bukanlah baby yang susah sangat nak tido, cuma her bedtime nie tak berapa nak fix sangat. Eventhough she's already 1 year old, I'm still trying to get her sleep pattern right. The earliest she can sleep is around 10:00 pm and the latest is around 12:30 am (...I know, pretty late huh...?) the thing is that, we co-sleeping, so if I'm not in bed early, so as she (hmmm.. nampaknya mommy sebenarnya yang harus didisiplinkan. Kehkehkehkeh..) my target is to get to bed by 10:00 pm and hoping that she sleeps like a rock till morning. Hehe, it might be a looooong way to go, but I better start somewhere don't I?

Okay, Raisha nie memanglah cuddle baby or shall I say baby yang tersangatlah manja (sampai hari nie I'm still resisting perkataan "manja" tu, but this time terpaksa guna jugak haha) she is very attached to me of course, and sampai hari nie she still needs me to bf her till she goes asleep. (I know, bad bad habbit.. Pls teach me how not to) bukan setakat itu saja, everyday, she needs to get her daily dosage of Tok Ma, Tok We, Aunty Zan and Aunty Na. So let say kalu siang kitorang dok kat rumah jer, and tak keluar mana-mana, by Maghrib tue sure Raisha dah macam tak tenang jer. So we know lah, she gotta be taken out and pergi jumpa her grandparents and aunties. Dah sampai sana, sure terbabas lah waktu tido dia. Dia akan main and main sampai lah betul-betul penat baru lah dia rela nak balik. Kalu tak, ajak balik pun dia buat tak reti jer. Yeah, that's my Raisha.

Hmm what's her bedtime routine is like.. Okay, this is very not good I must say. Before this, about a month ago, the routine was youtube playlist. I know I have read it somewhere (probably facebook) that - studies have shown watching youtube before sleep time can make the child more active, as in not wanting to sleep. Well, but not for Raisha. After a few songs (kadang2 a few tue boleh jadi setengah jam babe, sob sob), she knew that it's time for her to sleep. Kadang2, dia boleh tertido sendiri lepas tue.. Ohh itu paling miracle lah I rasa. Alangkah indahnya kalu every night pun macam tue.. *hopeful*

However, after she got discharged from hospital (will write about her admission later, insyaallah) she doesn't really need youtube anymore. She can sleep by just bf-ing. Cuma kena layan golek2 ngan dia dulu lah. Youtube dah jadi sampingan. I bukak kadang2 nak bagi background music jer, supaya dia lagi lena tido (Her favourite song is twinkle twinkle little star) .. Well, mungkin nie lah hikmah dia masuk hospital kan. Lepas discharge tu Raisha lebih senang ditidurkan. *alhamdulillah, syukur Ya Allah*.

So Raisha is now 1 year and 3 weeks.. Nak masuk 13 bulan dah. And up till now, she still on night feeding schedule.. Hehehh bukan lah schedule pun, it's just that she still bf every 2 hours macam tu.. Haa... Menangis kan dengar? (ker...ada orang yang senasib ngan i??) Nasib baik lah co-sleeping, kalu tak memang zombie lah I nie siang2. I don't know whether that is comfort feeding or she really needs it. Come to think of it, maybe lah comfort feeding kan, since she's already on solid. And by 12 months, most babies sleep throughout the night. However, Raisha nie mmg kuat minum susu waktu malam. Dari masa dia kecik2 lagi (since she's a colic baby).. Sekarang, kalu siang dia boleh tahan up to 4 hours without mommy's milk. Tapi, bila tido, memang paling lama pun 2 jam. So i guess it's part of her habbit. Or badan dia dah diprogram untuk cukupkan susu or zat2 yang diperlukan masa waktu malam. (hahahhah.. banyaklah teori I nie kan...) That's why lah dia memang minum secukupnya pada waktu malam.. When she was around 4-6 months, I wonder lah jugak, when is she going to sleep throughout the night. Tunngu punya tunggu, tak muncul2 juga.. Jadi, I pun dah tak mengharap sangat lah. Cause I believe that all babies are unique. Some are easy to handle and some require extra attention. And each baby will reach his/her developmental milestone at her own pace. And insyaallah Raisha will sleep throughout the night. Insyaallah, amin..!!

Do you have any tips on how to let your baby sleep throughout the night? And what your baby bedtime routine is like? Do share with me mommies at the comment box below..

Thank you, and good night darlings!
